Description: Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast made from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, grown on a mixture of cane and beet molasses. It is heated to deactivate the yeast and then dried into flakes or powder. B-vitamins are added during processing. The final product is non-GMO, gluten-free, and free from added preservatives or artificial ingredients.
Production: After fermentation, the yeast is pasteurized and fortified with B-complex vitamins. It is then drum-dried and milled into a shelf-stable, golden-yellow flake or powder form.
Qualities: Nutritional yeast is valued for its savory, umami flavor and naturally high protein content—around 50% by weight. It is also a source of added B vitamins, including B12. Its pleasant cheesy taste makes it a popular choice in plant-based and dairy-free recipes.
Common Use: Commonly used as a seasoning or flavor enhancer, nutritional yeast can be sprinkled on pasta, popcorn, vegetables, and salads, or blended into dressings, dips, and sauces. It’s also used in many vegan cheese recipes.

Misleading description
I ordered the Red Star Big flakes Nutritional Yeast based on the description. I was extremely disspointed when I received a plastic bag which is mostly powder.

Product itself is good but package is horrible!
I have no issue with the product itself, but it takes 5 minutes for me to open the resealable bag every time I use it. Not only this product. All your products with a resealable bag have this issue. A resealable bag like Ziploc has at least 1 to 1.5cm space above the zipper where you can grab it firmly when you open it. But your resealable bags have only 1 to 3mm space above the zippers. How can I hold and open if only a 1 to 3mm space is available? The problem is that when you guys seal the bag, you seal it too close to the zipper, and a huge space is available on the very top of the bag where I chopped off, when I open the resealable bag for the first time. So I ended up transferring the content into Ziploc, which is not ecological at all. What's the point of having reusable bags anyway?
