An incredible price for an Effective way to soothe gastric upset
What I loved about my order of slippery elm was that not only the price point wonderful, but the quality was there.. Shortly after receiving this, my youngest came down with a gastrointestinal flu. I provided him some and it stopped his GI upset immediately. I have purchased some slippery elm before from other places and you can tell that there is the presence of filler such as agar given that It’s less efficacious.. However, this slippery elm was highly effective. My son’s symptoms were soothed almost immediately. The preparation of slippery elm is rather straight forward. The ratio I use (depending on the form of administration) is one tablespoon to one cup of boiling water for tea. You can sweeten it by mixing it with some honey if the child is over a year. If it feels too thick for consumption as it can trigger the gag reflex, I add a little lemon. Although, it can be added to smoothies and soups for an easier method of ingestion. I also find that capsules are an easy form of administration for people who are particular about texture. It’s efficacy is derived from its ability to stimulate the afferent nerve endings of the gastrointestinal tract, causing an increase in mucous secretion. Slippery elm is a wonderful plant ally for soothing angry ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, GERD and a sore throat. Given that it promotes mucosal secretion, it has been an integral part of my practice as an herbalist for relieving constipation and diarrhea.
I use slippery elm in many herbal treatments and remedies. Being able to source organic slippery elm from a supplier who has consistent organic and quality botanicals is important for me. I appreciate the ease of purchase that OM provides when buying. Shipping is fast and accurate. Product is superb, organic, priced fairly, and consistent quality. I am always pleased with my purchases from OM
Smooth and soothing elm bark. Silky grind
This slippery elm is so delicious and very finely ground. I use about 1tbsp to 1 cup of water, bring to a boil and reduce heat for 15 min. Add some dairy or dairy free cream, shot of maple syrup and viola! A warming, thick drink that soothes the soul with aroma's of tree bark and oats. Drink for a wholesome warm cup of smooth soothe!
