ORGANIC OAT GROATS, whole
SKU: G200-2.2
Hurry up! Sales Ends In
Botanical Name: Avena sativa
Origin: Canada
Description: These whole oat groats are produced by removing the inedible outer hull of the raw oat grain using centrifugal acceleration and winnowing. Oats have a long agricultural history dating back over 3,000 years, first cultivated in the Middle East and eventually thriving in cooler, northern climates. Introduced to North America by British settlers in the 17th century, oats are now a staple crop used in a variety of culinary and agricultural applications.
Qualities: Oat groats are the least processed form of oats, offering a hearty, chewy texture and a rich, nutty flavor. They are a good source of complex carbohydrates, plant-based protein, and contain naturally occurring vitamins and minerals including B vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. While oats do not naturally contain gluten, cross-contamination with gluten-containing grains can occur during farming or processing.
Suggested Use:Oat groats require a longer cooking time than rolled or steel-cut oats, but they are well worth the wait. Ideal for slow cooking or overnight soaking, they make a satisfying hot breakfast cereal and can also be used in savory dishes such as grain bowls, pilafs, or stuffing.
Cooking Tips:
- Rinse oat groats before cooking
- Use 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of oats
- Simmer for 45–60 minutes until tender
- For a softer texture, soak overnight before cooking.
Storage: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and dark location for optimal freshness.

Oat groats
I have been trying to eat more intact grains and was looking around for oat groats. My friend, vegan dietician, Brenda Davis, recommended OM, and I enjoyed the products very much. I have passed on the website to other family and friends.

Not for sprouting
Disappointed. I tried sprouting them twice without success.

Morning treat
Good afternoon my friend, bought your OatGroats online and am completely satisfied with my purchase to start my day.

Oat Groats in the morning
I have this many mornings for breakfast. It helps level my blood sugar for reasons that aren't really clear to me, I cook it once a week in a slow cooker for 4 or so hours( or 7 hours in the slow cooker on low overnight) so its creamy and delicious and then refrigerate and use it throughout the week. I enjoy it with a cup of blueberries and a couple tablespoons each of chopped nuts and seeds as well as a tablespoon of ground flax. Its a good mix of proteins and fibre.
