Botanical Name: Chamomilla recutita syn. Matricaria chamomilla
Origin: Croatia / Egypt
Production: Chamomile is an aromatic herbaceous plant with white, daisy-like flowers that are harvested when in bloom.
Qualities: Chamomile has served as a gentle cure-all herb for centuries. It is often used to calm and soothe the nervous system and the digestive tract and is mild enough to be consumed by children and babies. It can also be used topically for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties on irritated skin and slow healing wounds.
Common Use: Chamomile is most often brewed as a tea. It has a mild, earthy flavor, slightly reminiscent of apples or pineapple. Dried flowers can also be added to baths for a relaxing effect, or used as a compress on the skin.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.

I learned to use chamomile flowers in childhood.. My mother used to make hot infusion of chamomile flowers and using a tent made from a towel i had to inhale the hot vapors when I was coming down with a cold or sore through.. This therapy is amazingly effective for sore through, laryngitis, cough...it also lifts the mood.It can also be used cosmetically to detoxify complexion, to open and cleanse the pores. It calms irritated skin. My mom also used to rinse my hair with chamomile infusion, believing that it will strenghten my hair and also lighten the color and add brilliance. Of course, chamomile can also calm the stomach and improve the mood! Not to forget bathing infants in chamomile infusion! And chamomile in a aroma lamp will improve the ambiance of the house! Just an alltogether great herb and a must have around,,,,,
